Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger is a daughter
of Kjellfrid Andreassen, a former midwife as well as a nurse in Norway. She was
born April 25, 1969 in Katy. Her father, Emil Erich Zellweger, is a Swiss-born
engineer. The couple was married in 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older
brother. He is a marketing executive and was born on February 15, 1967. While
working in the drama club, Renee became interested in acting. She took an
acting course at University of Texas (Austin) and began to think about acting
as a career. She wanted to pursue acting after graduation. However, Hollywood
can be difficult to get into which is why Renee chose to remain in Texas and
try out for roles around Houston. There, she was able to land roles in films
like Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey was
another Hollywood newcomer who she met working on the set of Texas Chainsaw
Massacre 2: The Next Generation (1994). Renee saw him work on a project that
attracted her. She auditioned for and got the part in Love and A.45 (1994). It
brought her critical acclaim that she decided to relocate to Los Angeles. A
further role in The Whole Wide World (1996) came next, and led to her first big
break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film which was Jerry Maguire (1996),starring
Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at the actresses Bridget Fonda (Camden Diaz),
Winona Ryder (Winona Ryder) and Marisa Tomei. Then he came across Zellweger's
performance at The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and was
confident that the actress was his Dorothy Boyd. Renee continued to enjoy her
success in small independent films. She received further praise from critics,
and was assured that she was in a position to return to large-budget Hollywood
films. Meryl Streep appeared alongside her in One True Thing (1998). She also
appeared in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) alongside Jim Carrey and shortly
after, began dating Carrey. In the role of the title character in Bridget
Jones's Diary (2001).
